People were curious, so here's the (brief) report. More details at
http://www.lemis.com/grog/videorecorder/log.html#29

Basically:

- Wonderful delivery. Arrived the second day after ordering.
- As advertised, it's in OEM packaging.
- As a result, it was very difficult to confirm that this was indeed a
PVR-250. In fact, it was impossible: it turned out to be a PVR-150.
I'm sure that this wasn't a deliberate mistake on the part of ELX:
I've heard Anthony complain before about having parts substituted
without notice. On this occasion, he immediately updated the web
site, so it's now indicating PVR-150.
- The OEM device (PVR-150MCE) does not include a remote control or the
circuitry to understand it. Not a worry for me, but it might be for
  others.
- FreeBSD doesn't support the PVR-150, so I have the choice of adding
support or returning the card. I don't really have time for the
  former.
- However: this is the last card they had. If anybody else is
interested in one (and we have confirmation that they work under
Linux), contact me and I can sell it to you. Please understand that
it'll be full ELX retail price plus postage, since I can get that
back anyway. But that full price is still about half what the
others charge. Reply in private if you're interested.
