To be fair, I think this would be the same with just about any input
method, including a good keyboard. Years ago I tried an experiment:
most of our department went to lunch together at a local restaurant,
and those who didn't sometimes felt left out of the information
disseminated at the "lunch meetings". I had just got my first laptop,
so I volunteered to keep minutes. The results are at
http://www.lemis.com/grog/diary-nov1989.html . There may be prizes
for guessing the identity of the customers I have referred to by
letters. In the context of this thread, though, the fact was that
taking notes significantly reduced the speed of conversation (and my
consumption of Ouzo and Retsina).
