That is, quite frankly, a dumb assumption :)

PalmOS is written by a company that does not have a monopoly on operating 
systems so it is in there interests to make it easy to use their hardware.

MS on the other hand..

I got it to connect OK, and I can look around the file system of the PDA, but 
I am having real trouble syncing appointments and contacts.

Also I hear that newer Pocket PC devices won't work because the protocol has 
changed. I imagine it will be reverse engineered but that takes time..
